The Surrey Monumental Inscriptions Index has around 1100 names for St Peter and St Paul Godalming. The inscriptions were collected for WSFHS in 1984 by Alan & Kathleen Benny,

Parts of Godalming St Peter and St Paul were merged into new parishes: Busbridge St John, Farncombe St John the Evangelist and Shackleford St. Mary the Virgin.

There is a Chapel of EaseA daughter church within an Anglican Parish, or a chapel in an outlying area of the parish that is more convenient for parishioners to attend at Ockford Ridge St. Mark.


West Surrey Family History Society CD10(Surrey Burial Index) has burial records for
WSFHS CD15(Surrey Baptisms Not in the IGI) has Baptismal records for
WSFHS CD30(Ancient Parishes in the Guildford district) has baptismal records for Godalming St Peter and St Paul for 1582-1840, Marriages for 1583-1837 and Burials for 1583-1840.

The Guildford Diocesan Record Office, where you should find the surviving parish registers, is the Surrey History Centre.


Godalming is a (civil) parisha Civil Parish is the bottom most tier of local government in England Sometimes called Town Councils in urban areas

[NB Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland have different systems of local government]
in the Waverley district of Surrey.
