The cemetery is in the Ancient Parishan Ancient Parish is a Church of England parish which, until the 19th century, had both ecclesiastical and civil functions of Godalming St Peter and St Paul. The Surrey Monumental Inscriptions Index has around 1100 names for St Peter and St Paul Godalming. The inscriptions were collected for WSFHS in 1984 by Alan & Kathleen Benny,

We have also acquired an digital copy of Cokayne,G.E. Surrey parish registers & MI's, Volume IV which includes some Godalming St Peter and Paul MIs. At July 201y this had not been transcribed nor indexed.

Friends of Surrey Cemeteries (Surrey Cemeteries: a survey, 2012):

Visited in 2005. A large rectangular flat area set behind houses on the ridge but with open fields at its far end. Unconsecrated ground on the right – 2552 numbered plots. Consecrated on the left – 9282 numbered plots. Notice board refers to 2002 decision to check stability of memorials for health and safety reasons – no sign of laying down or marking however.

No seating or toilet.

Straight drive down to archway between pair of chapels each with two anti rooms. In front of chapels an area of mature trees and shrubs. Most of the rest of the cemetery grassed only, wide paths, buried areas mown, others left to grass and wild flowers. Small lodge at entrance, looks occupied. Metal markers to each area with plot number and GJBB inscribed on them (Godalming Joint Burial Board).

Nov 2009 newspaper report of smashed headstones at cemetery. It appeared that 2 separate attacks following remembrance Sunday. Nine memorials found on the Friday and a further 3 on the following Thursday in a different area. An appeal for £6,500 to repair the damage was launched. 2 CWGC memorials damaged

Eashing is in Godalming which is a (civil) parisha Civil Parish is the bottom most tier of local government in England Sometimes called Town Councils in urban areas

[NB Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland have different systems of local government]
in the Waverley district of Surrey.
