Information on the history of the former Barry Road Methodist church is quite sketchy. It seems that the church was built ca. 874 to replace a smaller building on Lordship Lane. Some records for the church are held at Lambeth Archives and others at Southwark Local Studies Library.

Some time during the 20th century the church joined with the Barry Road United Reformed Church to form Christ Church East Dulwich. Christ Church is some 0 minutes walk south along Barry Road.

Barry Road Methodist Church was located in the Anglican ecclesiastical parishan ecclesiastical parish is an administrative area within the Church of England or Roman Catholic church. It is distinct from the civil parish, a local government unit in England of East Dulwich, St John.
