The new ecclesiastical parishan ecclesiastical parish is an administrative area within the Church of England or Roman Catholic church. It is distinct from the civil parish, a local government unit in England of East Dulwich St John the Evangelist was formed in 1865 from the Ancient Parishan Ancient Parish is a Church of England parish which, until the 19th century, had both ecclesiastical and civil functions of Camberwell St. Giles. It was formerly known as East Dulwich Chapel and was a Chapel of EaseA daughter church within an ecclesiastical Parish, or a chapel in an outlying area of the parish that is more convenient for parishioners to attend to St. Giles.

West Surrey Family History Society has no monumental Inscription information for St John the Evangelist church. However we have around 1800 names for Camberwell St Giles in the Surrey Monumental Inscriptions Index; they come from a number of different sources. The dates range from the early 1700s to the late 1890s
