of St. Saviour Guildford was originally part of the Ancient Parishan Ancient Parish is a Church of England parish which, until the 19th century, had both ecclesiastical and civil functions of Stoke-next-Guildford and became a separate parish in 1893 as St. Saviour, Stoke next Guildford. It was renamed St. Saviour Guildford in 1956.

The Monumental Inscriptions for Stoke St. John were noted for the Society in 1977. We also have copies of Alfred Bax's survey of 1903 (taken on a "warm and sunny day") and an undated manuscript ca 1911 from the Pardoe Collection. Our thanks to Surrey Archaeological Society for allowing us to copy material from their archives The Surrey Monumental Inscriptions Library includes some 991 names for Stoke St John which date from the mid 1700s to the mid 1900s.

The Guildford Diocesan Record Office, where you should find any surviving registers for this parish, is the Surrey History Centre.
