of Westborough St. Francis was created in 1958 from parts of the Ancient Parishesan Ancient Parish is a Church of England parish which, until the 19th century, had both ecclesiastical and civil functions of Stoke-next-Guildford and Worplesdon and Guildford St. Nicolas.
St Francis was originally built in 1933 as a chapel of ease to Stoughton Emmanuel which had itself formerly been part of the Ancient Parishan Ancient Parish is a Church of England parish which, until the 19th century, had both ecclesiastical and civil functions of Stoke-next-Guildford. A second church, St. Clare, Park Barn was built as a Chapel of EaseA daughter church within an ecclesiastical Parish, or a chapel in an outlying area of the parish that is more convenient for parishioners to attend in 1965. There is no graveyard at St Francis. The Monumental Inscriptions for Stoke St. John were noted for the Society in 1977. We also have copies of Alfred Bax's survey of 1903 (taken on a "warm and sunny day") and an undated manuscript ca 1911 from the Pardoe Collection. Our thanks to Surrey Archaeological Society for allowing us to copy material from their archives The Surrey Monumental Inscriptions Library includes some 991 names for Stoke St John which date from the mid 1700s to the mid 1900s.

Westborough is a locality in the Guildford district of Surrey.
