The Roman Catholic church of Christ the King was originally a Chapel of EaseA daughter church within an ecclesiastical Parish, or a chapel in an outlying area of the parish that is more convenient for parishioners to attend to the church of the Sacred Heart, Wimbledon. The church of Christ the King was built ca. 1928 although the mission began ca. 1913. It became a separate ecclesiastical parishan ecclesiastical parish is an administrative area within the Church of England or Roman Catholic church. It is distinct from the civil parish, a local government unit in England
in 1955.

The Surrey Monumental Inscriptions Index has some 2,400 names from inscriptions in Clarke's 1934 survey of St. Mary's churchyard. .
