The original St Mark's church was built in 1880, extended in 1894 but burnt down in 1966. The current St Mark's church was built on the site.
St Mark's was a Chapel of EaseA daughter church within an ecclesiastical Parish, or a chapel in an outlying area of the parish that is more convenient for parishioners to attend in the Ancient Parishan Ancient Parish is a Church of England parish which, until the 19th century, had both ecclesiastical and civil functions of Wimbledon St. Mary. St Mark's church is now part of the Wimbledon Team Ministry together with Wimbledon St. Mary, Wimbledon St John the Baptist, and Wimbledon St Matthew. There is no graveyard at St Mark's church. However earlier burials may have taken place in St. Mary's churchyard. The Surrey Monumental Inscriptions Index has some 2,400 names from inscriptions in Clarke's 1934 survey of St. Mary's churchyard. .
