There was no graveyard at St. Augustine's church which is located in the Anglican parish of Shere St. James. Very early burials may have taken place in the Ancient Parishan Ancient Parish is a Church of England parish which, until the 19th century, had both ecclesiastical and civil functions churchyard West Surrey Family History Society CD10 (The Surrey Burial Index - 2nd edition 2009) has burial records for Shere St James from 1546 to 1865. West Surrey FHS CD15 (Surrey Baptisms Not in the IGI) has baptismal records for Shere St James from 1602 to 1812. WSFHS CD30 (Ancient Parishes in the Guildford District - Transcriptions and Indexes. Gomshall is in the (civil) parisha Civil Parish is the bottom most tier of local government in England Sometimes called Town Councils in urban areas [NB Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland have different systems of local government] of Shere in the Guildford district of Surrey.
