Pyrford, Church of the Good Shepherd is one of three churches in the United Beneficean united benefice is a union of two or more Church of England parishes which remain distinct legal entities but share an Incumbant of Wisley with Pyrford. The other churches are Pyrford St. Nicholas and Wisley

There is no graveyard at the Church of the Good Shepherd. However the Surrey Monument Inscriptions Index includes just over 400 names in the from Pyrford St. Nicholas and around 100 names from Wisley Church

Pyrford was originally a ChapelryA Chapel of Ease within an Anglican Parish, or a chapel in an outlying area of the parish that is more convenient for parishioners to attend in the Ancient Parishan Ancient Parish is a Church of England parish which, until the 19th century, had both ecclesiastical and civil functions of Woking St. Peter. sometime before 1631 it was transferred to become a ChapelryA Chapel of Ease within an Anglican Parish, or a chapel in an outlying area of the parish that is more convenient for parishioners to attend in the Ancient Parishan Ancient Parish is a Church of England parish which, until the 19th century, had both ecclesiastical and civil functions of Wisley

The church is in the Anglican Diocese of Guildford. The Guildford Diocesan Record Office, where you should find any surviving registers for this parish, is the Surrey History Centre.


Pyrford is a village in the Woking district of Surrey.
