The ecclesiastical parishan ecclesiastical parish is an administrative area within the Church of England or Roman Catholic church. It is distinct from the civil parish, a local government unit in England of St Thomas on the Bourne was created from Ancient Parishan Ancient Parish is a Church of England parish which, until the 19th century, had both ecclesiastical and civil functions of Farnham St Andrew in 1875.

The parish of St Thomas on the Bourne has daughter churches at Brambleton Hall and St Martin Lower Bourne

There are around 686 entries for St Thomas in the Index to the Surrey Monumental Inscriptions Library. They date from the 1840s to the 1980s and were collected by members of WSFHS in 1988.

There are also around around 1017 names for Farnham St Andrew in the Index ranging from the mid 1700s to the 1930s.

WSFHS CD15(Surrey Baptisms Not in the IGI - 2nd edition 2009) has Baptismal records for: St.Thomas on The Bourne from 1874-1876;

WSFHS CD24(A 2nd Collection of Surrey Baptisms) has Baptismal records for the Farnham Bible Christian Circuit from 1839-1874.

WSFHS CD42(Ancient Parishes in the Farnham District) has Baptismal records for Farnham St Andrew from 1539 to 1840 and Burial records from 1539 to 1840.

The church is in the Anglican Diocese of Guildford. The Guildford Diocesan Record Office, where you should find any surviving registers for this parish, is the Surrey History Centre.


The Bourne is a locality in the (civil) parisha Civil Parish is the bottom most tier of local government in England Sometimes called Town Councils in urban areas

[NB Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland have different systems of local government]
of Farnham which is in the Waverley district of Surrey.
