The cemetery is maintained by the Windlesham Parish Council and is in The Avenue, Lightwater. There are burial records on-line on the Parish Council web site. WSFHS has around 750 names in the Surrey Monumental Inscriptions Index for Lightwater cemetery, they were collected by volunteers around 1997. The Parish Church in Lightwater is All Saints Friends of Surrey Cemeteries (Surrey Cemeteries: a survey, 2012): The Avenue, Lightwater. Opened 1924, 3.9acres behind council chambers. Windlesham PC. 01276 471675. Cemetery off The Avenue, a residential road that leads to the Lightwater Country Park. Visited 2007. Small mortuary (now office) and waiting room. One section reserved for Roman Catholics. Another for Church of England but mostly unconsecrated. Purpose built memorial wall with urns and ashes caskets buried in 3 rows. Half area is birch and pine woodland that will be cleared for later burials. Space for burials for 100 years estimated. Council chambers are on the site with flower tubs and a bench outside. Offices normally open 10-4 weekdays. Estimated area in use of an acre – rectangular site twice as wide as deep. No toilet at weekends. Well maintained. Lightwater is in the (civil) parisha Civil Parish is the bottom most tier of local government in England Sometimes called Town Councils in urban areas [NB Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland have different systems of local government] of Windlesham in the Surrey Heath district of Surrey.
