Friends of Surrey Cemeteries (Surrey Cemeteries: a survey, 2012):

Opened 1897. Chapel.

Visited 2005. A well kept cemetery with plenty of evidence of visits and care by relatives. No evidence or notices of laying down although a handful of crosses are no longer on their plinths. Fencing all round cemetery which is within the sound of the M25. Evidence of gypsy graves. Chapel and WC. Indigenous trees and 2 lovely cedars – hanging baskets, wind chimes etc in a number of trees and bushes. Lots of plants and mementoes.

The Woking Review dated 2 Aug 2008 reported a plan to extend the cemetery to land at Simplemarsh Farm on other side of Green Lane approved by Runneymede Council at a cost of £200k for 12 sections with space for 100 years. Parking for 14 cars + 3 disabled bays, walkways, shelter and turning point. Maintenance to cost £8k p/a. The income from the 4 Runneymede cemeteries in 2007-8 was £167k with £52k at Addlestone.
