The Roman Catholic mission in Barnes was established ca 1908 in Castlenau. Plans for a church were drawn up in 1939 but delayed by World War 2. Building work started in 1953 and the new church opened ca 1955.

There is no graveyard at St Osmund's church

St. Osmund's church stands in the Church of England ecclesiastical parishan ecclesiastical parish is an administrative area within the Church of England or Roman Catholic church. It is distinct from the civil parish, a local government unit in England of Barnes Holy Trinity which was created in 1888 from part of the Ancient Parishan Ancient Parish is a Church of England parish which, until the 19th century, had both ecclesiastical and civil functions of Barnes St Mary.
