The church was built originally ca. 1867 or 1868. The fund raising efforts seem to have been led by a Josiah Mee from Richmond Hill. The church was closed in 1906 when the Congregation moved to the new church in Station Road. The building was bought by several members of the congregation and became a Primitive Methodist Church. The congregation dwindled and church was again redundant from 1966. Subsequently it was bought by Sidney Wiles to become Barnes Healing Church.

This old Methodist church building is located in the ecclesiastical parishan ecclesiastical parish is an administrative area within the Church of England or Roman Catholic church. It is distinct from the civil parish, a local government unit in England of Barnes, St. Michael and All Angels which was created in 1919 from part of the Ancient Parishan Ancient Parish is a Church of England parish which, until the 19th century, had both ecclesiastical and civil functions of Barnes St Mary.

There is no graveyard at the Church. Earlier burials may have taken place at the former parish church. The Surrey Monumental Inscriptions Library includes around 720 names for the Ancient Parishan Ancient Parish is a Church of England parish which, until the 19th century, had both ecclesiastical and civil functions of Barnes St Mary. The survey was made ca. 1932.
