The inscriptions for the Ancient Parishan Ancient Parish is a Church of England parish which, until the 19th century, had both ecclesiastical and civil functions of Ashtead were noted by Arthur Ridley Bax (1844-1918). The notes are undated and were probably made around 1880 or 1890. There are around 400 names in the Index and include war graves from both World Wars.

Bax's notebooks are in the Library of Surrey Archaeological Society. They were filmed and transcribed by volunteers from West Surrey Family History Society and are used with permission.

There is a daughter church of St.George in Ashtead

WSFHS CD44 (Some Ancient Parishes in the Epsom District (July 2015) has Baptismal records for Ashtead St Giles from 1662 to 1840; Marriage records from 1663 to 1837; and, Burial records from 1662 to 1840.

WSFHS CD10(The Surrey Burial Index - 2nd edition 2009) has burial records for Ashtead St Giles from 1662 to 1875.

WSFHS CD15(Surrey Baptisms Not in the IGI) has baptismal records for Ashtead St Giles from 1841 to 1876.

The church is in the Anglican Diocese of Guildford. The Guildford Diocesan Record Office, where you should find any surviving registers for this parish, is the Surrey History Centre.

Ashtead is a village in the Mole Valley district of Surrey
