The new ecclesiastical parishan ecclesiastical parish is an administrative area within the Church of England or Roman Catholic church. St. Luke's was itself created from part of the Ancient Parishan Ancient Parish is a Church of England parish which, until the 19th century, had both ecclesiastical and civil functions St. Mary Lambeth in 1825. Part of the Emmanuel parish was moved to the new ecclesiastical parishan ecclesiastical parish is an administrative area within the Church of England or Roman Catholic church. It is distinct from the civil parish, a local government unit in England of West Dulwich All Saints in in 1899. Emmanuel parish and All Saints parish were merged in 1966 into the new parish of West Dulwich All Saints and Emmanuel.

A temporary church was opened ca. 1872 and the first permanent church was built ca. 1877. That building was destroyed by fire ca. 1966 and the present church built as part of a redevelopment by the local authority.
West Surrey Family History Society CD24(A 2nd Collection of Surrey Baptisms) has baptismal records for West Dulwich, Emmanuel Church from 1872 to 1876.
