The church was built ca. 1898 when a small group broke away from the original Oaklands Baptist Church. In year 2000 the two churches reunited under the title "Baptist Together in Surbition". In 2010 the reunited churches were renamed "Surbiton New Life Baptist Church". The building is still in use by the Baptist Church.
