St. Francis church was originally built as a school ca. 1843 and converted to a church towards the end of the 19th century.
St. Francis was a licensed place of worship within the Ancient Parishan Ancient Parish is a Church of England parish which, until the 19th century, had both ecclesiastical and civil functions of Guildford St. Nicolas. There are around 220 names from St. Nicolas in the Index to the Surrey Monumental Inscriptions Library. West Surrey Family History Society has a list of names for the churchyard, and an extract from Alfred Bax's notes for St Nicolas Churchyard taken in 1907.
