St John's church was built ca 1884 as a Chapel of EaseA daughter church within an ecclesiastical Parish, or a chapel in an outlying area of the parish that is more convenient for parishioners to attend in the Ancient Parishan Ancient Parish is a Church of England parish which, until the 19th century, had both ecclesiastical and civil functions of Epsom St. Martin. The chapel was located a short distance down Church Street from its junction with East Street. The building is now used as a nursery school.
There is no graveyard at St. John's; however there are around 1,700 names in the Surrey Monumental Inscriptions Index for Epsom St. Martin. West Surrey Family History Society also holds a copy of Alfred Bax's survey of the Inscriptions for Epsom St Martin, the notes are undated but thought to be ca 1890.
