"The West Croydon mission was sometimes referred to as the Thornton Heath mission in the early sixties of last century. The district, then quite country, is now almost covered with houses. The present church, in the Beulah Road, was formerly a dissenting place of worship known as ' The Temple,' and was erected by an ex-Freemason. The mission was opened in May 1905. Fr. Edward Mostyn, rector."Historical notes on English Catholic missions, Kelly, Bernard W. The church of St. Andrew is in the (Anglican) ecclesiastical parishan ecclesiastical parish is an administrative area within the Church of England or Roman Catholic church. It is distinct from the civil parish, a local government unit in England of Norbury St. Stephen. There is no graveyard at St. Andrew's church. We know of only three Roman Catholic cemeteries in the London area, St. Mary's in Kensal Green, St. Patrick's in Leytonstone, and St. Mary Magdalene in Mortlake. Many local cemeteries may have Roman Catholic sections see https://www.croydon.gov.uk/bereavement-services/cemeteries for the Croydon area. Thornton Heath is in the London Borough of Croydon.
Unless otherwise stated the dates for the creation of parishes are taken from Youngs, Frederick. A., jr.. Guide to the Administrative Units of England; Royal Historical Society: London, 1979 volume 1 Southern England.
