The new ecclesiastical parishan ecclesiastical parish is an administrative area within the Church of England or Roman Catholic church. It is distinct from the civil parish, a local government unit in England
of New Addington St Edward was created in 1958 from part of the Ancient Parishan Ancient Parish is a Church of England parish which, until the 19th century, had both ecclesiastical and civil functions of Addington, St. Mary the Virgin. St Edward's church was built in 1957, prior to that the estate was served by St. George's church a Chapel of EaseA daughter church within an ecclesiastical Parish, or a chapel in an outlying area of the parish that is more convenient for parishioners to attend to Addington, St. Mary the Virgin. The original St. George's church and its replacement were both destroyed by fire.
There is no graveyard at St. Edward's church. However earlier burials may have taken place at the Ancient Parishan Ancient Parish is a Church of England parish which, until the 19th century, had both ecclesiastical and civil functions of church of Addington, St. Mary the Virgin.
