The new ecclesiastical parishan ecclesiastical parish is an administrative area within the Church of England or Roman Catholic church. It is distinct from the civil parish, a local government unit in England of Croydon, St. Matthew was created from part of the Ancient Parishan Ancient Parish is a Church of England parish which, until the 19th century, had both ecclesiastical and civil functions of Croydon St. John the Baptist in 1866. The original church was demolished ca. 1970 and the replacement church rebuilt on a different site.


There was no graveyard at the original St. Matthew's church but burials may have taken place at the Ancient Parishan Ancient Parish is a Church of England parish which, until the 19th century, had both ecclesiastical and civil functions church of Croydon St. John the Baptist.

West Surrey Family History Society CD15(Surrey Baptisms Not in the IGI) has baptismal records for Croydon, St. Matthew from 1866 to 1876.

Croydon St. John the Baptist
West Surrey Family History Society CD10 (The Surrey Burial Index) has burial records for Croydon St. John the Baptist from 1538 to 1852.

WSFHS CD12 (Croydon Parish Registers to 1753 and Croydon Monumental Inscriptions to 1882) has Christenings, Marriages and burials for Croydon St. John the Baptist from 1538 to 1753.

WSFHS CD15(Surrey Baptisms Not in the IGI) has baptismal records for Croydon St. John the Baptist from 1538 to 1720, 1765 to 1799 and 1859 to 1876.
