The Coulsdon mission was founded around 1909, and in 1916 a tin church was built in what is now Woodcote Grove Road. This was replaced in 1922 by a more permanent church on the same site. A new church was built on the present site ca. 1930; that church was rebuilt to the current design ca. 1965/66.

WSFHS CD10 (The Surrey Burial Index) has burial records for Coulsdon St John the Evangelist from 1655 to 1865.
