Until 1844 St John the Baptist was part of the Ancient Parishan Ancient Parish is a Church of England parish which, until the 19th century, had both ecclesiastical and civil functions of Witley All Saints since then it has been a separate ecclesiastical parishan ecclesiastical parish is an administrative area within the Church of England or Roman Catholic church. It is distinct from the civil parish, a local government unit in England

Milford Cemetery is also in the parish although it belongs to Witley Parish Council

The Surrey Monumental Inscriptions Index has around 600 names for St John the Evangelist Milford, and just over 2,200 names for Witley All Saints.

The church is in the Anglican Diocese of Guildford. The Guildford Diocesan Record Office, where you should find any surviving registers for this parish, is the Surrey History Centre.


Milford is in the Waverley district of Surrey.
