The church of St. Philip, Cheam Common was built around 1874 as a "District Church"A daughter church or Chapel of Ease within an Anglican Parish established to serve a specified area of the Parish. Often the District Church has its own registers in the Ancient Parishan Ancient Parish is a Church of England parish which, until the 19th century, had both ecclesiastical and civil functions Cheam St Dunstan. It became a separate ecclesiastical parishan ecclesiastical parish is an administrative area within the Church of England or Roman Catholic church. It is distinct from the civil parish, a local government unit in England in 1906.

Parts of the parish of Cheam Common St Philip were later moved into the new ecclesiastical parishan ecclesiastical parish is an administrative area within the Church of England or Roman Catholic church. It is distinct from the civil parish, a local government unit in England of Stoneleigh in 1948.

Part of the church was demolished in 1978 and the remainder in 1983. The churchyard was closed in 1984. Only the churchyard remains and that is adjacent to Cuddington cemetery managed by Sutton LB.

The parish was renamed Worcester Park Christ Church with St. Philip in 1998 and is now part of a local ecumenical partnership that worships in the Methodist church.
