The new ecclesiastical parishan ecclesiastical parish is an administrative area within the Church of England or Roman Catholic church. It is distinct from the civil parish, a local government unit in England of Brixton St. Matthew was created in 1825 from part of the Ancient Parishan Ancient Parish is a Church of England parish which, until the 19th century, had both ecclesiastical and civil functions of Lambeth St. Mary.

West Surrey Family History Society CD2 (Surrey Marriage Index to 1837) has marriage records for St. Matthew’s Church, Brixton from 1825 to 1837.

West Surry FHS CD29(A 2nd Collection of Metropolitan Surrey Burials Index) has burial records for St. Matthew’s Church, Brixton from 1825 to 1889.

The church is in the Church of England Diocese of Southwark. The Southwark Diocesan Record Office, where you should find any surviving parish registers for this church, is the London Metropolitan Archives.
