It is distinct from the civil parish, a local government unit in England of Brixton St. Matthew was created in 1825 from part of the Ancient Parishan Ancient Parish is a Church of England parish which had both ecclesiastical and civil functions of Lambeth St. Mary.

  • Brixton St. Paul (1882), and,
  • Upper Tulse Hill (1889),
