It is distinct from the civil parish, a local government unit in England of West Byfleet in 1917.

The monumental inscriptions were noted by Cliff & Dianne Webb in 1976

“The inscriptions inside the Church were all copied. Those in four areas of the Churchyard (Sections A,B,C and D) were also copied in full, but in the large modern area to the rear of the Church (Section E), only the stones prior to 1865, and a few others of interest were noted, since so many older stones in other churchyards remain to be copied.”
