The village of Rowledge straddles the modern boundary between Surrey and Hampshire, the church is physically located in Hampshire.

The parish was created around 1871 from parts of the Ancient Parishan Ancient Parish is a Church of England parish which had both ecclesiastical and civil functions of Frensham St Mary the Virgin, the ecclesiastical parishan ecclesiastical parish is an administrative area within the Church of England or Roman Catholic church. It is distinct from the civil parish, a local government unit in England of Wrecclesham St. Peter and Binstead(Hants)

There are 451 names for Frensham in the Surrey Monumental Inscriptions Index including war graves, and around 837 names for St Peter Wrecclesham.
