St Joseph is a daughter church to St Edmunds Godalming; there was also a chapel in Elstead(now closed). Originally the Roman Catholic parishes of Haslemere(until 1924) and Bramley(until 1955) were also part of St Edmund's parish.
St Joseph’s is located in the Ancient Parishan Ancient Parish is a Church of England parish which had both ecclesiastical and civil functions of Witley All Saints, and since 1844 in the Church of England ecclesiastical parishan ecclesiastical parish is an administrative area within the Church of England or Roman Catholic church. It is distinct from the civil parish, a local government unit in England of Milford St John the Evangelist.
The Surrey Monumental Inscriptions Index has around 600 names for Milford St John the Evangelist, and just over 2,200 names for Witley All Saints.
