The parish was created from part of the Ancient Parishan Ancient Parish is a Church of England parish which had both ecclesiastical and civil functions of Godalming St Peter and St Paul in 1849. There was also a Baptist Chapel, a Gospel Hall, and a Wesleyan Chapel in Farncombe; and Binscombe Church in Binscombe Friends of Surrey Cemeteries (Surrey Cemeteries: a survey, 2012):

SHC dates quote 1695-1864. Plaque refers to land being originally owned by Thomas Patching. George Fox is said to have preached in barn in 1655. Land sold to James More-Molyneux of Loseley Park in 1864.
