Parts of the Ancient Parishan Ancient Parish is a Church of England parish which had both ecclesiastical and civil functions of Newinton St. Mary were transferred to new ecclesiastical parishesan ecclesiastical parish is an administrative area within the Church of England or Roman Catholic church. It is distinct from the civil parish, a local government unit in England :
  • Southwark Holy Trinity (sometimes known as Newington Holy Trinity) 1827
  • Walworth Common 1827
  • Newington St. Paul 1857
  • Walworth St. John 1860
  • Newington All Saints 1866
  • Newington St. Matthew 1868

There are almost 6,000 names in the Index to the Surrey Monumental inscriptions Library taken from Robert Hovenden’s “The monumental inscriptions in the old churchyard of St. Mary, Newington”, 1880.
